Bangladesh SEZ Ltd. (BSEZ) / MoU with BRAC Group, the World's Largest NGO
On June 4, 2024, the Bangladesh SEZ Ltd. (BSEZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BRAC Group, the world’s largest NGO, alongside the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Sumitomo Corporation.
The MoU aims to jointly explore educational support for employees who will work in the BSEZ, the creation of new business ventures, and support for the local communities surrounding the BSEZ.
This is the first time that the BRAC Group has engaged in a collaboration with such industrial park project of private enterprise.
A ceremony was held on the same day to mark the signing of the MoU. Mr. Asif Saleh, Executive Director of the BRAC Group and Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Mr. Shaikh Yusuf Harun attended the event. Mr. Asif Saleh expressed his expectations for the future development of local communities and his enthusiasm for collaborating with Sumitomo Corporation and the BSEZ.
The BSEZ is committed to leveraging BRAC Group’s extensive network and capabilities to drive sustainable regional development and create new business opportunities.

It operates across various sectors including finance (banking and mobile payments), telecommunications, food, and apparel. BRAC manages a substantial portion of its operational costs through revenue generated by its business subsidiaries, making it the largest NGO conglomerate in Bangladesh.
